The Secret Garden

The COVID-19 virus has made the botanical garden into a secret garden since the Governor has closed all non-essential businesses. I think we might well consider the Garden to be essential in innumerable ways but here we are.
March 23, 2020 was our mandated closing day but we have been active behind the gates. Surprisingly, few plants put their needs or growth on hold just because of some human concern!
We are of course still welcoming our core volunteers who are helping us with the plants, observing social distancing while doing so. If you would like to be on our volunteer list for future projects in the nursery or on the grounds, please sign up here.
I am sure most of you have seen our new videos and daily photos. For those who have missed it, we have gone virtual to allow you to visit while not leaving home. Every Friday a new short video, featuring me discussing a single topic, is released. You’ll find our videos our YouTube channel, Facebook page and on our website. You can find all episodes to date in those places.
Additionally, a daily photo is posted to Instagram and our Facebook page along with a short bit of information and/or trivia.
For those of you who tried our virtual Easter egg hunt around the Caribbean and have a few questions as to some of the answers, a link to the answers has been posted so check it out. I hope it was fun for all who tried!
While I’ve been glad to be able to welcome you into our secret garden virtually, all of us are looking forward to seeing you there in person soon
